Lindos, on the east coast of the island is known as the Jewel of Rhodes. A horseshoe of whitewashed houses nestles around the hillside, overlooking the crystal clear waters and golden sands of its enclosed blue flag bay. Its beauty has remained unchanged for centuries.

Discover its infinite labyrinth of alleyways, famous Captains houses, numerous Orthodox churches dating back to 12th Century, Crusaders castle wrapped round the ancient Acropolis and the temple of Athena Lindia. Not to mention a plethora of restaurants, great bars, interesting shopping and an array of water sports.

The main attraction of Lindos is the town itself, winding paths between small traditional whitewashed buildings. Be brave and leave the main streets and explore the backstreets!

You will never get bored in Lindos and with something for everyone, it is an unforgettable experience for all who visit.
Lindos is one of the most impressive archaeological site on Rhodes. The dramatic natural landscape is enhanced by the picturesque quality of the more modern town. Although you will find the most important archaeological monuments at the Acropolis, interesting ruins are also scattered at various points within the town and just outside it as well.

Walking up the road that leads high up to the acropolis, the first ruins you will encounter are the medieval walls. In the early 14th century the Crusaders built fortifications upon the remains of earlier defenses, from both the Byzantine era and more ancient times. There are a few towers along the medieval walls which follow the natural contours of the high ground.

Lindos lies on the east coast of the island. It is about 50 km south of the town of Rhodes and its fine beaches make it a popular tourist and holiday destination. Lindos is situated in a large bay and faces the fishing village and small resort of Haraki.

Lindos has some of the few sandy beaches on Rhodes, but these beaches are easily crowded. The bay has a lot of boats many of them serving the tourism industry. Destinations where it is worth a visit:
